I'm not donating anything (now wait...don't think I'm cold and uncaring) but that doesn't mean I don't donate.
ReplyDeleteMy father is going on 8 years prostate cancer-free and my mother is at the 3 1/2 year mark for breast cancer. I donate often to cancer research because I could have lost both of my parents and, unfortunately still could, to that heartless disease.
This blog contest is awesome and I applaud your effort to promote cancer awareness! :)

This is an awesome thing you're doing! As you know, I had cancer in my toe. That managed to change my life for going on two years now...I can't even begin to imagine what other people with worse cases of cancer have gone through. I'm glad that even my small donation could help.
ReplyDeleteMy partner and I have a friend Linda, who is 1yr cancer free, we just donated $36 (2XChai)in her honor (Chai is LIFE in Hebrew). My mom is a survivor, my FIL is a survivor. My partner's mom lost her battle 12 yrs ago after 17yrs in remission. I lost my Sister in Law before she even hit 40, and my daughter's still miss her. Keep doing what you're doing to help find the cure.
ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME chick... I posted on my blog all about my experience and threw in something! ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I'm not able to donate (being a starving college student and all that :P) but I did tweet about it! http://twitter.com/#!/ThatHapaChick/status/86536053699252224
ReplyDeleteMy grandma died of breast cancer before I was even born. :( And now my grandfather has prostate cancer. So its definitely something that I feel strongly about. Thanks for doing this! You rock! :)
I don't want an entry because I can't really afford to donate (I just graduated, and I don't have a job yet) but I will spread the word.
ReplyDeleteI didn't donate because I lack of a credit card, but I donate everytime I can and I work really hard helping the researchers in my school, I go to med school so I've seen a lot of patients and their families suffering because of this and it is really hard to see them going through this every day with a smile on their faces and hope in their hearts knowing some of them will make it and more of them won't... so please people out there don't skip the chance to help, cancer affects us all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway and thanks for doing this. I am not able to donate because I've already committed to things to the extent that my budget allows.
ReplyDeleteI think this is awesome way to show your support! My grandmother was in remission from breast cancer until the beginning of Dec of 2010. We lost her right before Christmas. Which sucks, but I know she is in a much better place now and pain free.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

This is an awesome thing you are doing. I'm a recent Breast Cancer Survivor. I was diagnosed last November, had two surgeries in January and completed radiation treatments at the end of April. Just this past weekend, I participated in my first Rocky Mountain Avon Walk (39.3 miles in two days) and raised $1,825 and I just signed up and created a team for the Komen 5K here in Colorado Springs - so I'm a little tapped out on funds right now, but I did want to thank you for doing this. What a great way to promote books AND support cancer research.
ReplyDeleteBeverly aka Booklady
This is a great thing you are doing. My dad died of brain cancer when I was in 7th grade. The doctors told him that he only had 3-4 months to live, but he lasted a year. He went though a lot of pain. I miss him very much. He wanted to set up a brain cancer foundation and research but was never able to. I hope that someone else will be able to complete his wish. Thank you so much for helping the ones who have cancer now, survivors, and those who lost their battle.
ReplyDeleteCarson (Reader with a Voice)
I can't donate, because of the no credit card issue. But I still donate anytime we collect money at my school. One of my aunts got bone cancer. Very saddening. They didn't give her long to live, and eventually the removed her whole leg! She was still always in a happy and good mood. She just died recently and her death has been really hard for me and my mom.

ReplyDeletemfallon@unitedbankcard.com
I'm not donation for two reasons most important I'm at work and no cc with me and two I like to do it personally not ever the net.
ReplyDeleteMy dad had colon cancer. It infuriates me to know he suffered as he did. I hate what he went through. It will be 3 years October 15th that he passed and the only good thing was that his suffering ended. That he was no longer in agony. I hate cancer with a passion. When I read Before I Die by Jenny Downham I sat here blubbering like a baby. It affects too many people. I know of no one who hasn't know someone who had it or has it. My bosses mom has cancer. Her hair is now growing back. It's nice to see someone coming back from it and maybe I'm selfish but I wish it was my dad.
I can't donate because my husband left me last month with no money and a special needs 4 y/o, but I do give to the ACU when I can. My aunt died of breast cancer when she was only in her 30s, and my younger sister has had several melanomas removed from her face and neck, so my family are definitely prone to cancer. I think this is great what you are doing for the ACU and all of the people who depend on them:)

This is such a good cause. I lost my father and uncle to cancer. I am waiting to see if my son needs a third surgery on his inoperable tumors in his legs (that is why I can't donate right now)
ReplyDeleteMy grandma just passed away with Lung Cancer about 2 weeks ago. I miss her terribly, they just found the mass when she was in the hospital and it progressed fast. I also have an aunt that has two big masses on her ovaries please keep her in your prayers. I wish I could donate but I am financially strapped right now but I do when I can.

ReplyDeleteI donate every year to Alex Lemonade Stand - for the past 3 years. And I've been volunteering with the Breast Cancer Society for the past eleven years. I donate every year, even if it's just a single $1. Every little bit counts.
Cancer has affected my family. My granny passed away five years ago from stomach cancer. Yeah...
Good luck with spreading the word!

A few years ago I lost one of my grandmas due to cancer. Now I just found out this year that my other grandma has cancer and it has been one of the roughest years yet. I use to cry a lot but then I thought that's not helping anyone. So I picked myself up and donated and tried to help out in any way. I didn't donate here though.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really awesome thing you're doing :)
I culdn't donate, but this close to me.

I donated because my mom is currently going through radiation and chemo treatments. This has been a very hard and stressful summer, but things are looking up and she is almost done with treatments. We have had amazing support from friends and family but it's different being front and center and seeing all that the patient with cancer has to go through.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is a trooper, she has good and bad days but she has stayed strong and hopeful. This contest is amazing and is such a great way to bring people together. Thank you for taking the time getting people involved it really means a lot to the people and families going through such hard times
and a terrible disease.
I am a strong support of Susan Komen. My grandmother had breast cancer and a mastectomy and her sister had a double mastectomy so I know and understand how it could be and how important it is to stay on top of female health. Both of them are strong and full of spirit so it is in my blood to fight if the time comes.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could donate but I just don't have to means to do so but I think it is a great cause!

I am almost ashamed to enter without donating because winning would deprive someone who lost someone to or is suffering from cancer a little joy in life. Consider this comment support to your Stand up to Cancer cause and if I happen to win anything I'll pass it on to a cancer victim. Thank you for what you're doing. Just because I don't have any family afflicted currently doesn't mean I can't imagine the pain of those so cruely touched by this disease and know that any of my family could one day be diagnosed with it.

Thanks for the great giveaway. I wish I could donate. I really want to but right now I am unemployed. Cancer has affected me in a great way. I lost an uncle about a year ago to cancer... wow its been a whole year. They told him in 2004 that he only had 6 months to live. He entered a cancer drug trial at the VA hospital in Richmond VA, and he lasted til Sept. 2010. I miss him so much and it was super hard to watch him go through all the chemo and radiation. I was there when he passed and it was super hard. I was numb for weeks and just didn't feel like doing anything. However I now know that he isn't hurting anymore and I am still healing. We def need to support cancer research in anyway possible and hope and pray that we find a cure someday so no one has to go through what many have. Again I would love to donate just can't right now. But i am in full support of your cause.
ReplyDeleteWow, I think it's amazing that you're doing this! Being a student that's surviving on minimum wage and her parents, I really wish I could donate, but I just can't. My grandmother had cancer a few years ago, but luckily through treatment, she got better.
ReplyDeleteI spread the news on twitter http://twitter.com/#!/WordAlert1 and on my blog http://wordalert1.blogspot.com/p/giveaways.html
I don't feel like cancer has had a big impact on my life, but when I stop and think about it, it has. Sure, it hasn't affected me personally, but my mom lost her mother to cancer when she was 6. ReplyDeleteI didn't donate :( I would have loved to but I honestly don't have to funds for various sad/sappy story reasons. But I just wanted to say you are awesome. You are such a strong person and I can tell you really care for people!! :) Cancer runs in my family and my boyfriends. His grandma passed away when he was about 13 and she was the best thing he had in his life. It took a long time for him to get to where he is today. He turned into someone he didn't want to be after she passed. But now he is a stronger person and so am I. I have too many stories to tell involving my family and cancer, but I can say it is a hard thing to handle, but life is hard sometimes and all you can do is hope, pray, and keep your head up. Thanks for sharing your stories, hosting a giveaway, and fighting for the cause. I tweeted about donating. I'll leave the link in the bottom of my comment. And I linked your page in my blog so I'll put my blog address on here too. Love ya girl!

I've never had been in close contact with cancer whatsoever. My mother has been sick plenty of times, and I'm grateful none of those days were cancer-related. But I've seen the patients in the hospitals whenever I went to visit my mother.
ReplyDeleteI had this terrible ache inside my chest.
I would call it pity.
But I felt as if I should be doing something to help them, those harmless beings, instead of just standing there, gawking at them like a madman.
Which is why I volunteer in the hospital now. It's a great experience, and I've met many new people. I guess this is my way of standing up to cancer, now that I think about it.
Those patients didn't choose to be diseased with such a horrible sickness. It's unfair, as is bullying, and we all have to face whatever hits us in the eye.
Life is like a box of chocolates.
You never know what you're going to get.
A Forrest Gump quote, to which I am not ashamed to type here. C:
Sadly, I cannot donate since credit cards aren't my thing, and we're a little low. But whoever does donate...YOU'RE AWESOME. <3

I, myself, am not able to donate right now, but I do have a story to share. Personally, cancer has affected my life. At age, 7, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I would experience tremendous headaches and couldn’t keep food down. It turned out benign, thank God. They were able to remove 93% of the tumor, followed by many radiation treatments to remove the rest. I spent a total of 120 days in the hospital, 4 months worth. All is fine now, liveable and manageable. I’m 25. I remember it being the toughest thing to get through, especially for my parents. If it weren't for them, I don't know where I'd be. And to this day, I am still left with post surgery issues that hinder my life at times.

ReplyDeleteMarcus was 15 when he was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Stage 3 brain cancer. He had brain surgery, removed the tumor. He continued on with Marching Band, school and church activities while going through both chemo and radiation at the same time. He was in remission for only 9 months when the cancer came back with a vengance. We were on our Make a wish trip in Hawaii. Marcus had just turned 17, and became very ill. While in Hawaii we found that the cancer was all over his brain. He passed away on October 26, 2008. He fought so hard, and lived life so fully, thinking of others always.

Love what this giveaway is promoting! Cancer is a terrible thing to lose someone too, my childhood best friend (basically sister) lost her mother to Ovarian Cancer because they cannot catch it in time. I have donated to that specific cancer foundation in the past but right now I'm tight for money (college is starting up again in a week). So I can't donate to these funds right now, but amazing giveaway to promote the funds!
