3 years, 1 month, 1 week and 6 days since I’d seen daylight. One-fifth of my life. 98,409,602 seconds since the heavy, steel door had fallen shut and sealed us off from the world.
Sherry has lived with her family in a sealed bunker since things went wrong up above. But when they run out of food, Sherry and her dad must venture outside. There they find a world of devastation, desolation...and the Weepers: savage, mutant killers.
When Sherry's dad is snatched, she joins forces with gorgeous but troubled Joshua - an Avenger, determined to destroy the Weepers.
But can Sherry keep her family and Joshua safe, when his desire for vengeance threatens them all?
This book is so much fun! :) I've always been a fan of zombie books, and the author did a great job of placing a fun twist on zombies by making them half animal half human, and I don't think there are a ton of books out there like that!
- I loved the way this book started out. The writing really is beautiful, with some amazing descriptive writing that at times I was a little jealous I hadn't written myself. :) In the first few sentences, the desperation of Sherry's situation was so well done, and I was drawn in immediately.
- There are so many zombie books that sort of seem to run along the same basic plot, (and I love all of them, I'm a zombie freak!) but I especially loved how Sherry had to face the challenge of not only surviving, but going behind enemy lines to save her father. She's a great, tough character, and Joshua, the boy who helps her, is pretty freakin' sexy. :) That's always a plus.
- I really loved this book, and I loved the setting at Safe-Haven, in an old vineyard. It made for some gorgeous scenes, and I love the fact that though they think they are safe, there is always something super dark lurking on the outskirts.

I really enjoyed it too (I reviewed it recently). I don't do zombie books so I'm glad I didn't know what it was about before I read it otherwise I would have missed out on an awesome read! There will be a sequel called "The Life Beyond" :)

ReplyDeleteEven though I don't usually read zombie books (they scare me), I will make an exception for this one. It's on my TBR list and I am looking forward to it!

I've been wanting to read this book, but wasn't sure until I read this review that I wanted to read it RIGHT NOW! You make The Other Life sound like a book that cannot be missed. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteEven sick you look cute. Thanks for the suggestions for great books coming out to read. I just saw Bree Despain and Brodi Ashton at a writer's conference last weekend. I took notes on classes and am posting them on my blog.
